They are devoted to their owners and have proven to be excellent guard dogs as well as rescuers. So when getting a Newfie puppy, it is best to start planning on how you will get to know, understand, and train this companion who will be staying with you for more than 10 years. You shouldn’t have a problem with drooling and slobbering for the Newfie is known for that. But don’t get them wrong, they love you all the same!
Shedding may also be a problem but you should have the discipline to comb them out daily. Training the dog isn’t that difficult but it must be done with patience.
